Today is the longest day of the year. Happy Solstice, everyone!
“The summer solstice, also known as estival solstice or midsummer, occurs when one of Earth’s poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun.”
Translation – the closer you live to the equator, the less you will notice. If you live in Canada, however, you’re likely very aware of how long the days are this time of year. The sun often starts rising around 3 am and doesn’t set until after 10 pm.
The long hours of daylight are definitely welcome by me at this time of year. Sadly, after today the days will get increasingly shorter all the way to December. I love me some sunshine.

Last weekend on some higher elevations here in the northeast, there was snow and ice. I actually turned a heater on…unheard of but I am not complaining. In a day or two it will be the reverse.

Happy solstice. The days are similar length here in Ireland at the moment, and Iām always sad after today because the days are getting shorter again.

I forgot today was the summer solstice, but as I was at work, I did feel the day drag by. Probably due to the solstice, but most-likely due to the fact that I was absolutely tired and irritated with my clients, haha!

Here I am amazed that its light at 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. I can only imagine what you Canadians get to deal with during the solstices.
